This question is from linear equations in two variables in which we have been asked to find the value of x and y from the given equations 2x-y+3=0, 3x-7y+10=0
Kindly give me a detailed solution of this question
RS Aggarwal, class 10, chapter 3B, question no 6
2x−y+3=0...(1)
3x−7y+10=0....(2)
Let us use elimination method to solve the given system of equations.
Find the value of y from equation (1) and substitute the value in (2).
From (1)
−y=−3−2x⇒y=2x+3
And
3x−7(2x+3)=−10
⇒3x−14x−21=−10
−11x=−10+21=11
⇒x=11/-11=−1
and y=2x+3
y=2(−1)+3=−2+3=1
y=1
Answer : x=−1 and y=1
