If the following Question forms an A.P then find the c.d an write three more terms. -10, – 6, – 2, 2 …

The following question is of NCERT Book class 10th Chapter no.5 Q. 4(iv). In the following question you have to find that is the question  an A.P or not if it is an A.P  then find the “d” and write three more terms.

  1. Solution:

    -10, – 6, – 2, 2 …

    The terms and their difference are:-

    a2 – a1 = (-6)-(-10) = 4

    a3 – a2 = (-2)-(-6) = 4

    a4 – a3 = (2 -(-2) = 4

    Here the common difference is equal.

    So, d = 4 and the given series is an A.P.

    Here the next terms are;

    a5 = 2+4 = 6

    a6 = 6+4 = 10

    a7 = 10+4 = 14
