This an important question for the cbse and ncert  exam. question from RS Aggarwal book,  Mensuration chapter, Volume and Surface Area of Solids; Exercise 17A; page number 786.

This question ask in 2014 and 2011 board exam. This question based on Volume and area of solids.

  1. volume of a cube = 27 cm³

    volume of a cube =  (edge)³

    27             =   (edge)³

    ³√27         =  edge

    ∴ edge = 3 cm

    The length of the resulting cuboid,

    l = 3 +3 = 6 cm,

    its breadth,

    b = 3 cm

    and its height,

    h = 3 cm

    Surface area cuboid = 2 ( [length × breadth ] + [breadth × height] + [height × length ] )

    ∴ Surface area of resulting cuboid is = 2 (lb + bh + hl)

    = 2 ( [6×3] + [3×3] + [3×6] )

    = 2 × 45

    = 90

    ∴ Surface area of resulting cuboid is 90 cm²
