An important and exam oriented question from real numbers in which we have to find the required number of stacks if three sets of English Mathematics and Science books containing 336, 240 and 96 books respectively have to be stacked in such a way that all the books are stored subject-wise and the height of each stack is the same.

  1. Height of each stack = HCF of (336, 240, 96) books
    336=2^4×3×7 HCF=2^4×3=48
    240=2^4×3×5 HCF=2^4×3=48
    96=2^5×3 HCF=2^4×3=48
    Height of each stack = 48 books
    Number of stack = 336/48+ 240/48 + 96/48
    =7 + 5 + 2 = 14
