The area of two similar triangles are 36 cm 2 and 25 cm 2 . If an altitude of the first triangle is 2.4 cm, find the corresponding altitude of the other triangle

An important question from similarity chapter in which we have to find the length of altitude of a triangle by using basic proportionality theorem if the area of two similar triangles are 36 cm2 and 25 cm2. If an altitude of the first triangle is 2.4 cm.

  1. given two triangles are similar

    therefore ratio of their areas =square of ratios of corresponding altitudes

    therefore √36/25=2.4/x
    impies x=2.88
