This is the Important question of class 10 Based on Mensuration Chapter of M.L Aggarwal book for ICSE BOARD.
Here the curved surface area of a cylinder is given and circumference of its base also given.
Find the height of the cylinder and the volume of the cylinder.
This is the Question Number 09, Exercise 17.1 of M.L Aggarwal.

  1. Given curved surface area of a cylinder = 4400 cm2

    Circumference of its base = 110 cm

    2r = 110

    r = 110/2 = (110×7)/2×22 = 17.5 cm

    (i) Curved surface area of a cylinder, 2rh = 4400

    2×(22/7)×17.5×h = 4400

    h = (4400×7)/2×22×17.5

    = 40 cm

    Hence the height of the cylinder is 40 cm.

    (ii)Volume of the cylinder, V = r2h

    = (22/7)×17.52×40

    = 38500 cm3

    Hence the volume of the cylinder is 38500 cm3.
