Taxi charges in a city consist of fixed charges and the remaining depending upon the distance travelled in kilometers. If men travels 80km, he pays Rs1330, and travelling 90km he pays Rs1490 find the fixed charges and rate per km.

This is the basic and conceptual question from linear equations in two variables in which we have to find the fixed charges and rate of per km if taxi charges in a city consist of fixed charges and the remaining depending upon the distance travelled in kilometers. If men travels 80km, he pays Rs1330, and travelling 90km  he pays Rs1490.

Kindly give me a detailed solution of this question

      Let the fixed charge be x and rate per km be y

      So, x+80y=1330x+90y=1490

      Subtracting above Equations from each other
      10y=160⇒y=16

      and x+80∗16=1330⇒x=1330−1280=50
