This question is from linear equations in two variables in which we have given two equations
x/3 + y/4 = 11, 5x/6 – y/3 = -7
We have to calculate the value of x and y from above equations
Kindly give me a detailed solution of this question
RS Aggarwal, Class 10, chapter 3B, question no 8
x/3+y/4=11,
5x/6−y/3=−7
Simplify the both equations:
3x+4y=11
⇒4x+3y=132 and
65x−3y=−7
⇒5x−2y=−42
We have,
4x+3y=132...(1)
5x−2y=−42...(2)
Let us use elimination method to solve the given system of equation.
Multiply (1) by 2 and (2) by 3. And add both the equations.
(8x+6y=26415x−6y=−126)/23x=138
x=138/23=6
From (1):4(6)+3y=132
y=108/3=36
Answer x=6 and y=36
