  1. All integers between 1 and 500 which are multiples of 2 as well as of 5 are 10, 20, 30, 40, . . . .490.

    First term(a) = 10, common difference(d) = 20 – 10 = 10 and nth term(an) = 490.

    By using the formula of nth term of an A.P.

    an = a + (n – 1)d

    So, 

    => 490 = 10 + (n – 1)10

    => 10(n – 1) = 480

    => n – 1 = 48

     

     

    => n = 49

    Now by using the formula of sum of n terms of an A.P.

    Sn = n[a + an] / 2

    So, 

    S49 = 49[10 + 490] / 2

    = 49[250]

    = 12250
