This question is Based on Equation of a Straight Line Chapter of M.L Aggarwal book for ICSE BOARD for class 10.
Here the given lines are perpendicular to each other , So find the value of p.
This is the Question Number 05, Exercise 12.2 of M.L Aggarwal.

  1. If two lines are perpendicular, then the product of their slopes is -1

    Now, slope of the line y = 3x + 7 is m1 = 3

    And,

    The slope of the line: 2y + px = 3

    2y = -px + 3

    y = (-p/2) x + 3

    m2 = -p/2

    As the lines as perpendicular,

    ⇒ m1 x m2 = -1

    3 x (-p/2) = -1

    p = 2/3

    Thus, the value of p is 2/3.
