This is the basic and conceptual question from linear equations in two variables in which we have given two equations 12x+17y=53, 17x+12y=63 and we have to find the value of (x+y)

Kindly give me a detailed solution of this question

  1. 12x+17y=53                              …(i)
    17x+12y=63                           …(ii)
    On adding (i) and (ii) , we get
    29x+29y=116
    x+y=4               ….(iii)
    On subtracting (i) from (ii) , we get
    5x5y=10
    xy=2              ….(iv)
    On adding (iii) and (iv) , we get
    2x=6
    x=3
    By putting x=3 in (iii), we get
    3+y=4
    y=1
