Given that the line y/2 = x – p passes through the point (– 4, 4) , So find the value of p

An Important Question of class 10 Based on Equation of a Straight Line Chapter of M.L Aggarwal for ICSE BOARD.
Here a line ( y/2 = x – p ) is given which passes through a point (-4, 4)
We have to find the value of p.
This is the Question Number 10 Exercise 12.1 of M.L Aggarwal.

  1. Given, equation of line: y/2 = x – p

    And, it passes through the point (-4, 4)

    Hence, it satisfies the line equation

    So,

    4/2 = (-4) – p

    2 = -4 – p

    p = -4 – 2

    Thus, p = -6
