Find the diameter of a sphere whose surface area is 154 cm square .

This question is Based on Mensuration Chapter of M.L Aggarwal book for ICSE BOARD for class 10.
In this question you have to find the diameter of a sphere whose surface area is given.
This is the Question Number 05, Exercise 17.3 of M.L Aggarwal.

    1. Given surface area of the sphere = 154 cm2

      Surface area of the sphere = 4r2

      4×(22/7)×r2 = 154

      r2 = 154 ×7/(22×4)

      = 49/4

      r = √49/2

      Diameter = 2×r = 2×√49/2 = √49 = 7

      Hence the diameter of the sphere is 7 cm.
