This is the Important question of class 10 Based on Mensuration Chapter of M.L Aggarwal book for ICSE BOARD.
A soft drink is available in two packs (i) a tin can with a rectangular base its length and width is given, having a height and (ii) a plastic cylinder with circular base of diameter and height is given. Which container has greater capacity and by how much?
This is the Question Number 21, Exercise 17.1 of M.L Aggarwal.

1. (i) Length of the can, = 5 cm

Width, b = 4 cm

Height, h = 15 cm

Volume of the can = lbh

= 5×4×15

= 300 cm3

(ii) Diameter of the cylinder, d = 7 cm

Radius, r = d/2 = 7/2 = 3.5 cm

Height, h = 10 cm

Volume of the cylinder, V = r2h

= (22/7)×3.52×10

= 385 cm3

Difference of the volume = 385-300 = 85 cm3

Hence the plastic cylinder has 85 cmmore volume than the tin can.
