Find the equation of a straight line parallel to x-axis which is at a distance (i) 2 units above it , (ii) 3 units below it.

This question is based on Equation of a Straight Line Chapter of M.L Aggarwal book for
ICSE Board for class 10.
Here Given :
(i) Straight line parallel to x-axis
(ii) and distance is also given
You have to find the equation of a straight line parallel to x-axis.
This is the Question Number 03 Exercise 12.1 of M.L Aggarwal.

    (i) A line which is parallel to x-axis is y = a

    ⇒ y = 2

    Hence, the equation of line parallel to x-axis which is at a distance of 2 units above it is y – 2 = 0.

    (ii) A line which is parallel to x-axis is y = a

    ⇒ y = -3

    Hence, the equation of line parallel to x-axis which is at a distance of 3 units below it is y + 3 = 0 .
