This is the basic and exam oriented question from linear equations in two variables in which we have been asked to find the value of variables x and y from the equations 3x+2y+25=0, 2x+y+10=0 by using the properties of cross multiplication
Kindly solve the above equations
RS Aggarwal, Class 10, chapter 3C, question no 4
3x+2y+25=0...(1)
2x+y+10=0...(2)
From equation (1):a1=3, b1=2 and c1=25
From equation (2):a2=2, b2=1 and c2=10
Using cross multiplication method:
x/(20−25)=y/(50−30)=1/(3−4)
=x/−5=y/20=1/-1=−1
x/−5=−1
∴ x=5
y/20=−1⟹y=−20
Thus x=5, y=−20
