Solve for x and y: 2x-3y=13, 7x-2y=20

This question is from linear equations in two variables in which we have been asked to find the value of x and y from the given equations 2x-3y=13, 7x-2y=20

  1. 2x−3y=13⟶(i)

    7x−2y=20⟶(ii)

    Multiplying (i) by 2 and (ii) by 3
    4x−6y=26
    21x−6y=60
    On subtraction : −17x=−34
                                        x=2
    putting the value of x in (i)
    2(2)−3y=13
    ⇒−3y=9
    ∴y=−3
