Solve for x and y: 2x-3y/4=3, 5x=2y+7

An important and conceptual question from linear equations in two variables in which we have been asked to calculate x and y from the equations 2x-3y/4=3, 5x=2y+7

Kindly solve these equations

  1. The given equation are

    2x−3y/4​=3 and 5x=2y+7

    Rearranging these equations we get,

    8x−3y=12 …..(1)

    5x−2y=7 ……(2)

    multiply (1) by 2 and by 3 on subtracting we get

    16x−6y=24

    15x−6y=21

    –         +      –

    x  − 0=  3​

    x=3

    putting x=3 in (1) we get

    8(3)−3y=12

    24−3y=12

    −3y=12−24

    −3y=−12

    y=−12/−3

    y=4

    hence x=3,y=4
