Is 184 a term of the AP 3, 7, 11, 15….?

A basic and conceptual question from arithmetic progression chapter in which we have given a series of AP 3, 7, 11, 15 and we have to find whether 184 is a term of the above series?

Book RS AGGARWAL, arithmetic progression, chapter 5A, question 22

  1. Here 1st term (a) = 3 and common difference (d) = 7 – 3 = 4
    nth term an​=a+(n−1)d
    ⇒184=3+(n−1)4
    ⇒181=4n−4
    ⇒185=4n
    ⇒n=4185​
    Since n is not a natural number
    ∴ 184 is not a term of the given sequence
