A kite is flying at a height of 75 meters from the ground level, attached to a string inclined at 60 o to the horizontal. Find the length of the string nearest to the ground.

This is the basic and conceptual question from trigonometry of height and distance in which we are to find the length of the string if a kite is flying at a height of 75 meters from the ground level, attached to a string inclined at 60o  to the horizontal.

Book – RS Aggarwal, Class10, chapter 14, question no 2.

  1. Let AB=75= Height of Pole
    and AD be the length of the wire

    From ABD
    sin60o=AB/AD

    ⇒√3/2=75/AD

    AD=150/3

    ⇒150/1.73   (Take3=1.73)

    =86.6 m
