One of the most important and conceptual question from linear equations in two variables as it was already asked in various examinations in which we have been asked to find the fraction if we have given the sum of the numerator and denominator of a fraction is 4 more than twice the numerator. If the numerator and denominator are increased by 3, they are in the ratio 2:3.
Kindly give me a detailed solution of this question
RS Aggarwal, Class 10, chapter 3E, question no 23
Let the fraction =x/y
First condition :
⇒x+y=4+2(x)
⇒−x+y=4
Second condition :
⇒(x+3)/(y+3)=2/3
⇒3x+9=2y+6
⇒3x−2y=−3
⇒x=5
⇒y=9
⇒fraction =5/9
