Solve for x and y: 2x-3/y=9, 3x+7/y=2

  • 0

An important question from linear equations in two variables as it was already asked in various examinations in which we have been asked to find the value of variables x and y from the equations 2x-3/y=9, 3x+7/y=2

  1. Given
    2x3/y=9...(1)
    3x+7/y=2...(2)
    Let us use the elimination method to solve the given system of equation.

    Multiply (1) by 3 and (2) by 2,We get
    6x9/y=27...(3)
    6x+14/y=4...(4)

    Now, subtracting equation (3) from(4)
    (6x+14/y)(6x−9/y)=427
    14/y+9/y=23
    23/y=23
    y=1

    Substitute the value of y in equation (1), we have
    2x(−1)3=9
    2x+3=9
    2x=6
    x=3

    Hence  x=3,y=1
